The corona virus continues to rage heavily in the Ter Meere residential care center in Overmere. In barely ten days, the preliminary balance is worrying: 13 of the 24 residents, all in the same ward, tested positive. Eight members of staff are also infected. The local government is therefore taking extra measures to contain the outbreak as quickly as possible. This morning, it was decided, in consultation with the coordinating and advising doctor, and the Agency for Care and Health, to immediately put the entire residential care center into lockdown. Yesterday a separate Covid unit had already been set up. But with this new wave of infections, it is no longer enough, says mayor Katja Gabriëls.
