Coronavirus: contagions are still growing, there are 1,210 – Chronicle

The growth of infections for Covid in Italy does not stop: there are 1,210 (against 1,071 on Saturday) the new cases recorded in the last hours. There are 7 deaths, up from 3 on Saturday but down from 9 on Friday. These are the figures from the Ministry of Health.

The healed today, Sunday 23 August, are 267 for a total of 205,470. In total, the cases registered by the Ministry of Health are 259,345, while the total number of deaths is 35,437. The total of the currently positive is 18,438 (+935).

On the other hand, there are 47 more hospitalized patients with covid symptoms in Italy (for a total of 971) with an increase of 5 people in intensive care (69) compared to Saturday. In home isolation there are 17,398 (+883). From the data provided by the Ministry of Health it also emerges that the swabs carried out were about 67 thousand, 10 thousand less than on Saturday.

There are five regions that passed the hundred infected today, Sunday 23 August, with Lombardy returning to the top with 239 new cases, followed by Lazio with 184, Veneto with 145, Campania with 138 and Emilia Romagna with 127. The other regions are more distant, with 81 cases in Sardinia and 59 in Tuscany. The only region that does not register new infections is the Valle d’Aosta while in Molise there is one, 3 in the province of Trento and 5 in both Basilicata and Marche. As for hospitalized patients with symptoms, Lazio continues to have the highest figure (286) with an increase of 21 compared to Saturday. Lombardy is stable with 148. Intensive care is more numerous in Lombardy (14) with Sicily in second place (10).

There are 81 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Sardinia, no new victims are registered. In the latest update of the Regional Crisis Unit, the total number of Covid-19 positive cases ascertained on the island since the beginning of the emergency rose to 1,734. Of the new 81 cases: 56 were registered in northern Sardinia and 17 in the Metropolitan City of Cagliari, most identified following the contact tracing of previously ascertained cases, in addition to 3 cases in Southern Sardinia, of which two tourists from Spain and one from another region, and 5 in the Province of Nuoro, four tourists and a resident. The number of victims remains unchanged, 134 in all. In total, 124,137 swabs were performed. There are 18 hospitalized patients (+4 compared to yesterday’s figure), none in intensive care, while 320 are people in home isolation. The progressive number of positive cases includes 1,259 (+1) patients recovered, plus another 3 clinically recovered. Of the 1,734 positive cases ascertained overall, 326 (+17) were detected in the Metropolitan City of Cagliari, 172 (+3) in Southern Sardinia, 61 in Oristano, 108 (+5) in Nuoro, 1.067 (+56) in Sassari.
