Coronavirus.- Brazil registers 64,000 cases and 1,110 deaths from coronavirus in the last day

The Brazilian Ministry of Health has registered another 64,025 infections and 1,110 deaths from coronavirus this Wednesday, which means that 8,195,637 people have contracted the disease, of which a total of 204,690 have died.

The authorities have reported that 7,273,707 people have managed to overcome the disease, while another 717,240 still remain under medical supervision.

On the other hand, the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has advanced that a meeting will be held this Sunday to decide on the emergency authorization of the coronavirus vaccines of the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac and that of AstraZeneca.

As for the first, it will be developed in Brazil in collaboration with the Butantan Institute of Sao Paulo, a center that already has some six million doses prepared pending permission from Anvisa.

For its part, the scientific institution Fundación Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz) awaits the approval of Anvisa to be able to use some two million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine that it will import from India.

While waiting for the Government of Brazil to establish the vaccination deadlines, as well as the organization of the campaigns and logistics related to the distribution of vaccines, the Minister of Health, General Eduardo Pazuello, has assured that the objective is start the process on January 20.
