China is the only major country to have escaped the recession: GDP rebounded by 11.5% in the second quarter, after falling by 10% in the first. Compared to the previous year, the decline was 6.8% in the first quarter, with a rebound of 3.2% in the second: these are, however, levels of growth much lower than those recorded by Beijing in recent decades
