A hospital in Ireland uses robots to give nurses the opportunity to spend as much time with patients as possible throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin will now have robots that can quickly perform administrative and computer-assisted tasks that nurses generally do.
It was hoped that giving nurses more time in the face of critically ill patients fighting COVID-19 could provide more time for nurses.

The software developers at UiPath have developed a gadget that can be used to accelerate the regularly laborious processes in the healthcare system.
It was hoped that by performing most of the day-to-day administrative tasks, computers could spend up to 50 percent more time with patients.
The technology will also accelerate the technology to analyze and write COVID-19 test results for patients and organizations around the world.
Jincy Jerry, deputy director of nursing, infection prevention and control, said IPC nurses spend around 30 percent of their day on administrative duties. So he had tried to make software robots part of their daily work.
Instead of standing in front of computer systems, Jerry noted that everyone on the front line should be as free as possible to spend time with patients.
“It will also ease the burden on the hospital as it continues to process large amounts of more routine patient information in addition to the Covid-19 specific information,” he told DailyMail.
Jerry said that a quick prognosis and adequate self-isolation – apart from social distancing – are crucial to stop the development of COVID-19.

He assured that the challenge the organization is facing will help alleviate the tremendous stress this outbreak creates for health organizations – not just in the MMUH but across Ireland. “
Mark O’Connor, Director of Public Sector Ireland at UiPath, added that key frontline workers could focus more on care when a robot helps.
The passport comes from the medical facility as robot specialists say machines can disinfect surfaces, measure temperatures, and collect swabs.
By adding new functions to robots, the “boring, dirty and dangerous jobs” could be automated.
In an article for a scientific journal, Howie Choset of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and other signatories said that robots were also used for a wide range of cases during the Ebola outbreak in 2015.
The team said each of these programs could help reduce the risk of people being directly exposed to the disease.
Without a sustainable research approach, the researchers would repeat themselves. As a result, robots may not be ready to face the next incident.
However, Choset and his team found that funding multidisciplinary research in collaboration with agencies and industry to meet these use cases remains expensive, rare, and destined for other uses.
