Donald Trump has sharply challenged the questioning of the football season (NFL) in the fall because of the coronavirus, which is expressed by the immunologist Anthony Fauci, ensuring on Friday that the league was going to start it safely.
“Tony Fauci has nothing to do with american football. The NFL provides for an opening of the season a very safe and controlled”, tweeted the us president.
On Thursday, Dr. Fauci, infectious disease specialist for the White House, has warned that the season NFL would have a hard start as expected in September because of the pandemic, if not in a “bubble”.
“Unless the players are grouped in a bubble, isolated from the population and they are tested almost every day, it is very difficult to imagine how one could play football this fall,” he said.
“If there is a second wave of the pandemic, which is of course a possibility and that would be even more complicated because of the flu season expected, [la saison de] football may not occur this year,” he insisted.
Leagues of basketball (NBA) and soccer (MLS), who are preparing for their arrival in July at Disney World in Orlando, have made them the choice of returning to competition at a single site.
“We don’t think this is practical or suitable”, said the medical director of the NFL, Allen Sills.
If he pushes for the championship to take place, Donald Trump has, however, reiterated that he did not want to see knee on the ground, before the matches. “If (the players) do not come up during our national anthem, in front of our large american flag, I don’t look at!!!”, a-t-he writes.
