French health authorities have registered 8,975 new coronavirus cases. This is the highest number of confirmed infections since the start of the pandemic in France. There are 4,671 hospital admissions, up for the sixth consecutive day, but still far from the peak of 32,292 recorded in mid-April. Intensive care admissions are also growing, currently totaling 473, +46 in the last 24 hours. There were 20 new deaths. The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic has risen to 309,156, with 30,686 deaths.

After only 3 days of school, 22 institutes and a hundred classes have had to be closed in France due to cases of Covid-19 by students or teachers. An expected number, which should be relativized considering that there are 60,000 schools open, underlines – trying to reassure families – the Minister of Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer.
