Even though few patients are hospitalized, viral circulation is increasing in Tarn-et-Garonne. For three weeks, 75 new cases of coronavirus have been identified, according to the Regional Health Agency (ARS). A figure which brings to 210 the total number of people who have been diagnosed positive since the start of the crisis, last March, in the department. A peak was even reached on July 24 with 21 confirmed cases of Covid-19 on that day alone.
Simple lapping in the water or a sign of a storm to come? “We have witnessed an acceleration in the circulation of the virus since July, so what is needed is a collective recovery, respect the barrier gestures”, explains David Billetorte, the head of the ARS in the Tarn -et-Garonne.
Currently, an epidemic focus is counted in the department. It is located, more precisely, in Montauban. It is not a community cluster, but a family cluster, made up of four people from the same family diagnosed positive on their return from vacation. According to the authorities, there are no other active clusters in the department at present.
More and more tests
In addition, screening operations are increasing across the country. About twenty sampling sites fill up with candidates for the swab test introduced into the nasal cavities, in Montauban, Caussade, Valence d’Agen, Castelsarrasin, Moissac … The inhabitants can be tested free of charge and without appointment to find out whether or not they carry the virus.
Biologists have seen the number of Covid-19 cases start to rise again since the start of the summer.
In a single day, Monday August 10, no less than 586 people were tested in the Tarn-et-Garonne.
In Montauban, Julie goes on long days in her laboratory to meet an ever-increasing demand. “It’s quite worrying, especially since the Tarn-et-Garonne had hardly been touched by the first wave.”
After making the mask mandatory on open air markets, garage sales or even flea markets, the prefecture should shift gear this week in the fight against this rebound in the epidemic. New measures will be announced Monday by the prefecture of Tarn-et-Garonne. Preventive actions are already planned for next week, especially on Wednesday at the Monclar-de-Quercy leisure center.
Castelsarrasin the leisure center closed as a precaution
A suspicion of a case of covid was confirmed yesterday by Jean-Philippe Bésiers, mayor of Castelsarrasin. It would be a young girl received at the recreation center. According to the mayor, the test has been carried out. Pending the results, the city of Castelsarrasin and the ARS have decided to close the recreation center until further notice. This is a preventive measure.
