CORONAVIRUS: 1,650 tests in one day in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

In Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, 1,010 deaths have been reported in hospitals since the start of the Covid-19 epidemic. Screening detected 9 new cases in one day.

Press release from the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Regional Health Agency dated May 31, 2020:

Long weekends and sunny days: let’s be careful to limit the risk of tick bites

The return of sunny days is conducive to walks in natural environments and activities in the gardens.

The ARS of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté recalls the precautions to limit the risk of tick bites which are particularly active during this period. Of course, these outdoor activities should not make us forget the reflex gestures to block the coronavirus which is still present on our territory.

The epidemiological surveillance of Public Health France lists in Burgundy-Franche-Comté:
– 416 patients hospitalized in health establishments, including 34 in intensive care
– 1,010 deaths in hospitals
– 3,487 people discharged from hospital.

The screening monitoring system integrated 1,651 new test results yesterday, in all the departments of the region, including 9 positive.

When going out, watch out for ticks

Extended weekends, sunny days and the prospect of the second wave of deconfinement can rhyme with family outings, forest walks, bike rides, activities in the garden … The ARS of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté reminds the precautions to take to avoid tick bites:
– Before an outdoor activity, cover your arms and legs with long clothing, possibly impregnated with repellents.
– Walk on well-marked paths without tall grass or dense vegetation.
– After an activity in nature, carefully inspect your body. Note: it may be useful to carry out a new inspection the following days as the blood-soaked tick will then be more visible.
– After being bitten by a tick: remove the animal with a tick puller and monitor the bitten area for one month. If a red, round patch extends in a circle from the sting area, seek medical advice quickly.

ARS Bourgogne-Franche-Comté recalls that a prevention clip explains the 9 actions to protect yourself and indicates how to remove a tick. Very convenient ! Made by the Lympact association, the French Federation against vector-borne tick diseases, with the support of Public Health France and the General Directorate of Health, it can be discovered on the ARS website.

ARS also recalls that the new version of the “Tick Reporting” application arrived on May 18, 2020 on iOS and Android! Its purpose is to provide prevention advice on tick bites, while allowing citizens to report their bites from their smartphones in order to collect the necessary exposure data for scientists.
