The Ministry of Health ruled that none of the Coronavac vaccines, developed by the Chinese laboratory Sinovac Life Sciences, do not comply with the required temperature to be disposed of or inactivate it after passing through “thermo-sensitivity” tests, reported Ruy López Ridaura, general director of the National Center for Preventive Programs and Disease Control (Cenaprece).
The federal official explained that seven entities reported that the data logger indicated a higher temperature of 11 to 12 degrees, when the doses must be kept between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius.
But only in three states was any temperature excursion observed, that is, when they exceed 8 degrees.
After the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) sent the Coronavac vaccines last Sunday, which were stored in Laboratorios de Reactivos y Biológicos SA de CV (Birmex), through different aircraft, brought with him those temperature gauges called data logger.

These data were analyzed, he said, with the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) and by the technical groups of the National Center for the Health of Children and Adolescents (Censia), which review possible failures in the cold network and data that warrant canceling these vaccines.

What these moments of temperature were not sufficient in time or intensity to inactivate the vaccine”, He said after referring that the pharmacist itself sent the evidence that the vaccine does not lose its potency and can be up to seven days at 25 degrees centigrade having the same protection capacity.
Thermo-sensitivity tests, he added, cover 10 and up to 14 days, the latter being when the vaccine begins to lose its potency.
“The temperature that was in these three states never exceeded 11 or 12 degrees, and they were less than two hours. Today the ruling was made. Each of the entities has been informed that there is no problem using the vaccines. There is no problem. These vaccines can be used in all entities “
They were made aware, he referred, to the entities that had initially reported this change in temperature: Michoacán, Jalisco, Guanajuato, Coahuila, Campeche, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas and Oaxaca.
For the moment, he said, It is unknown if Nuevo León will use them. They only know that they are in a cold room and are still intended for the target population, without a power and safety risk.
