“Coronation of King Charles III at Westminster Abbey: A Detailed Guide to the Golden Ball Operation”

Millions of people in the UK and beyond are preparing to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III. It will be held at Westminster Abbey on May 6 and the King, who will be crowned alongside Queen Consort Camilla, will be the 40th monarch to be crowned there since 1066.

Just under 200 members of the armed forces – most of the sovereign’s cavalry escort – will take part in the procession to Westminster Abbey. They will start gathering from 09:45 UK time.

Another 1,000 servicemen will line the route, but the whole procession will be much smaller than its 1953 equivalent, when participants included other royal families and Prime Ministers of Commonwealth countries.

10:20 a.m.

The procession will leave at 10.20am UK time, traveling along The Mall Road to Trafalgar Square and then down Whitehall and Parliament Street. It will then turn towards a square in front of Parliament and the Great Sanctuary to reach the Great West Gate of Westminster Abbey.
