Sadio Mane, the Liverpool striker, is in a state of quarantine after it was discovered that he was infected with the Corona virus, which causes Covid-19 disease.

This comes three days after the English club announced that midfielder Thiago Alcantara was infected with the virus.

Liverpool said that the Senegalese winger “showed slight symptoms of infection with the virus, but he feels that he is in good health in general.”

Mane, 28, participated in the match against Arsenal on Monday, which ended in Liverpool’s 3-1 victory. But he was not part of the team that faced Arsenal on Thursday in the League Cup match, which ended with the latter winning on penalties.

“As happened with Thiago Alcantara, Liverpool is following – and will continue to follow – the protocols for Covid-19, and Mane will be subject to a quarantine for the required period,” Liverpool said in a statement on its website.

Mane, who scored three goals for his team since the start of the season, will miss Liverpool’s match against Aston Villa next Sunday in the Premier League framework, before the tournament was suspended to make way for international competitions.
