After a slight decrease the day before, the seven-day incidence of new corona infections in the southwest rose again on Wednesday. As reported by the State Health Office in Stuttgart (as of 4:00 p.m.), it exceeded the mark of 1,900 infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week. Currently, the incidence is 1912.0, which is 16.3 more than the day before and even 265.5 more than a week ago. However, the actual seven-day incidence is likely to be significantly higher due to the fact that the number of unreported cases is still high.
Compared to the previous day, the Stuttgart authorities reported 42,625 new infections. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the number of registered cases has increased to 2,595,591. It has been proven that 14,726 people have died from the corona virus or in connection with it. That means 30 more people have died since the day before.
According to the LGA, there were 253 Covid patients in the intensive care units in the country on Wednesday, 11.5 percent of the intensive care beds were occupied by Covid patients. For both values, the differences to the previous day and previous week were small. This also applied to the so-called hospitalization incidence. The number of corona infected people in Baden-Württemberg who came to a hospital within a week and per 100,000 inhabitants was 7.7 on Wednesday (plus 0.2 compared to the previous day).
