The mayor of Nannestad, Hans Thue (Labor Party), told Dagbladet after it became clear on Friday night that several people had given a false address in connection with a visit to the fitness center Evo Fitness in the municipality.
It was Eidsvoll Ullensaker Blad who first mentioned the case.
The news was revealed in connection with it becoming clear earlier on Friday that a person who had trained at the fitness center had tested positive for the coronavirus.
The municipality writes on its websites that it is a young adult who has tested positive, and that he or she has trained with Evo Nannestad in infectious phase on 5, 6 and 7 March. and in this connection, 120 people have been asked to test themselves.
– During the infection tracing, it has emerged that several of those who have visited the center live in Ullensaker, Lørenskog and Oslo, the mayor continues.
This is contrary to Nannestad’s infection control measures, which only give residents living in the municipality permission to train at the village’s fitness centers.
Thus, in line with the Infection Control Act, the municipal chief has chosen to urgently close the fitness center.
– There is a lot that is bad during the day, but when this was discovered we had no other choice, says Thue.

Not deserved
Furthermore, the mayor says that throughout the pandemic they have had a good collaboration with Evo.
– This is neither something that the fitness center nor the inhabitants of Nannestad have deserved. It is devastating for all parties and I fully understand those who are now reacting to the decision. Apart from exercising, there is not much else to do these days other than sitting at home and eating potato chips.
At the same time, he says that Evo does not have access to any population register and in that way has not had the opportunity to do anything other than trust its visitors.
– Then it is a pity that someone chooses to break the regulations.

Three options
How long the fitness center will stay closed is still uncertain. Thue says that the matter will be taken up for consideration when the presidency meets next Wednesday.
– We have three options to choose from. One is to open up the center again, the other is to close the municipality’s other fitness center as well, while the last is to relate to the decision we have decided today. We will get back to which alternative we choose to use, the mayor tells Dagbladet.
He also says that they have notified the other fitness center about unauthorized fitness tourists.
– We have asked them to be extra attentive in the time to come. If we discover the same trends at this center, we have only one medicine to use. This is the same thing we have chosen to do at Evo today.
Finally, Thue says that inspections were recently carried out at both fitness centers and that the municipality did not discover any breaches of the infection control regulations.
– We have a common interest in giving the municipality’s residents the best possible offer during the pandemic. Then it is a pity that we have to intervene in this way.
Collaborates well
The CEO of Evo Fitness, Morten Hellevang, tells Dagbladet that long before the decision of the municipal superior on Friday there has been no opportunity to train at the center, unless the members have chosen Nannestad as the primary center.

– The only theoretical possibility is then that the members have registered with a false address. We have done control checks of the members, but we do not have police authority, so there is a limit to what we can do.
– What do you think about the decision that was made tonight?
– I am unsure how the municipality can know that the members do not live in Nannestad, but we cooperate well with the municipality and comply with the decision. What is a pity is that around 1000 members are now banned from the center even though they have not done anything wrong.
