The autumn round of corona vaccination of 2023 is over, but the corona shot will remain available in 2024 for pregnant women and medically high-risk groups. From January 2, they can make an appointment at GGD Kennemerland on Wednesdays and Thursdays in Haarlem. For most people it is no longer possible to get the shot at the GGD. The autumn round started on October 2 and ended on December 22.
More than 87,000 injections have been administered
The corona autumn round was for people aged 60 and over, adults who receive the flu shot annually, healthcare workers with direct patient contact and pregnant women. GGD Kennemerland has vaccinated more than 87,000 people in this round at the injection locations in Haarlem, Hoofddorp, Beverwijk, IJmuiden and Nieuw Vennep. All locations are now closed. The pop-up injection location in Haarlem in the parking lot near the ice rink has permanently closed its doors after three years and will be removed in January.
Vaccination teams also set out again in this round of injections to vaccinate residents of healthcare institutions, hospital employees and non-mobile people living at home. In total, this mobile team has vaccinated around 2,000 people.
Corona shot in 2024 for pregnant women and risk groups
The corona shot will remain available in 2024 for pregnant women and medically high-risk groups. During pregnancy there is a greater chance of becoming seriously ill from corona. The baby can also be born prematurely due to corona. That is why pregnant women can get the corona shot from the GGD all year round. People who are at greater risk of becoming seriously ill due to corona due to a condition can also go to the GGD for the corona shot in 2024. The latter group does require a referral from the doctor.
You can make an appointment from January 2, 2024
From January 2, 2024, pregnant women and medically high-risk groups can make an appointment for the corona shot. GGD Kennemerland vaccinates on Wednesdays and Thursdays in Haarlem on the Zijlweg. You can make an appointment by calling 023-7891631.
