The preparations for the mass vaccination are in progress. 28 locations for vaccination centers are registered with the Hessian Ministry of the Interior. Many details are still open. An interim balance.
When does the vaccination start?
No serum has yet been approved, so the start date is open. The state government has called on the 21 rural districts and five independent cities to make the vaccination centers operational by December 11th. The demand has now been met, said a ministry spokesman on Tuesday.
Why can’t the family doctors take care of that?
Because they don’t have special refrigerators.
How many vaccinations are planned?
The goal is to have 30,000 vaccinations a day. Even on weekends, the centers in Hesse should be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. In addition, teams are deployed to look after people in old people’s or nursing homes or at home. According to the current status, everyone has to be pricked twice. The announced vaccination rate is 60 to 70 percent.
Who will be vaccinated first?
This is also due to the serum that is available. Only then will the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) make its recommendation. The Ethics Council and the Leopoldina advocate vaccinating the elderly and the chronically ill first, as well as representatives of systemically important professions such as doctors, nurses, police or fire services. On Monday, the Verdi union called for teachers to be given priority.
How do I get the vaccination?
They are only available upon written invitation. Details are still in progress. The slightest problem is probably people of a certain age. The state knows who is over 65, for example. The long-term care fund could provide data for people in need of care. General practitioners could issue certificates for previously ill patients.
Where do the staff come from?
The country has been holding talks with representatives of the municipalities, doctors and aid organizations for a long time. Cities, districts and the state medical association have published calls. Healthcare professionals can do the vaccination. According to the law, a doctor must conduct the prior informational discussion. The state government relies on the support of residents, retirees and company doctors. The Bundeswehr and the DRK have promised to help.
How does the vaccine get to the center?
The federal government gives it to the federal states, which distribute the serum with a shipping company specializing in refrigeration. The state government had already started procuring cannulas, syringes and disinfectants weeks ago. Cooling capacities for the centers are also provided by the state.
Where are vaccination centers built?
Frankfurt has watched the fair. The Mainz-Kinzig district has two locations: August-Schärttner-Halle in Hanau and the large sports hall of the district secondary school in Gelnhausen. In Wiesbaden there was a successful test run in the Rhein-Main-Congresscenter on Sunday. 1000 to 1500 people are said to receive the vaccine there every day. The corona vaccination center of the Hochtaunuskreis is to be built in the former Hewlett-Packard building in Bad Homburg. District Administrator Ulrich Krebs and the responsible department head Thorsten Schorr announced this on Tuesday. The Wetteraukreis looked out for an empty hardware store in Büdingen. A test run is planned for Saturday in the Darmstadtium Congress Center in Darmstadt. The Groß-Gerau district has selected two sports halls at the Martin Buber School in Groß-Gerau. In the Darmstadt-Dieburg district there will be a vaccination center in Reinheim and the other in Pfungstadt.
