GOES – As of today, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) is sending out the first invitations for the corona jab, aimed at people aged sixty and over. Younger people who fall into a risk group can make an appointment themselves. This was announced by the Zeeland GGD health service.

The vaccinations will be administered by GGD Zeeland employees at various locations in Zeeland and will take place from September 16 to December 6, 2024.

Vaccine adjusted

‘The coronavirus is still present and can revive again’, the GGD Zeeland reports. ‘When someone is eligible for the corona vaccination, the advice from the RIVM is to definitely get this vaccination. The protection against hospitalization or death is brought back up to standard by this vaccination. The vaccine offers an important additional line of defense for public health.’

Vaccination is done with the mRNA vaccine BioTech/Pfizer. ‘This vaccine has been adapted to the new variant JN.1 of the coronavirus.’

Regional approach

In Zeeland, the GGD wants to reach all eligible residents as best as possible. That is why it has set up vaccination facilities in nineteen villages and towns for this autumn campaign. ‘We make a distinction between six main locations, which are open several days a week for twelve weeks, and smaller locations. At the smaller locations, vaccinations are given in village halls, sports canteens and other buildings for a number of days during the same period. In this way, we get close to the residents, so that everyone has the opportunity to choose a suitable day and location for their vaccination.’

‘We will be using this again this year ggdzeelandprikt.nl where you can find more information about our vaccination locations and the current planning. We are currently working hard to get the website live before the first vaccination is given.’
