Corona vaccinated woman died: – – Cerebral haemorrhage under the age of 45 is extremely rare

Earlier today, it became known that a woman in her 30s, who was employed in Tynset municipality, died ten days after being vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Steinar Madsen, director of the Norwegian Medicines Agency, emphasizes that this death is not caused by a blood clot.

– We take this very seriously, since it is about a younger person. We will now collect all available information about this incident from local health personnel and hospitals, to get the best possible basis for assessing the cause of this incident, Madsen told Dagbladet.

He goes on to say that they can not conclude anything until they have received all the results.

– We must be sure whether this may have something to do with the vaccination or whether it is a coincidence in time, he says.

– Extremely rare

At a press conference on Friday morning, the municipal chief in Tynset stated that the woman died as a result of a brain haemorrhage.

– The person in question was vaccinated, and eventually a serious condition developed, which ended fatally, says Steinar Madsen.

He also says that the person was admitted to hospital after receiving the vaccine, where a number of examinations were performed. These are examinations that the Norwegian Medicines Agency will now review.

– When a patient has such a serious condition, a number of examinations are taken by the person in question – all of which are necessary to be able to make a diagnosis, he says and continues:

– But cerebral haemorrhage at that age is extremely rare. Annually, it only occurs in 4-5 people in people under 45 years of age.

– Emphasizes openness

The woman died on March 6. The Norwegian Medicines Agency was made aware of the case yesterday afternoon.

The municipality informs in a press release that this week they have carried out investigations into the death in collaboration with the treating hospital and reported the death routinely to the Norwegian Medicines Agency.

How long it will take for the Norwegian Medicines Agency to investigate the death is difficult to say, according to Madsen.

– I can not give any specific time frame there. A thorough job must be done.

He continues:

– The tragic death that became known today should not give much reason for those who have been vaccinated to be worried.

– We emphasize being open about all aspects of the vaccine, both positive and negative – so that people know that what we say is true, Madsen concludes.

– Many side effects reported

On 9 March, more than 408,000 people were vaccinated with the first dose of corona vaccine, and more than 214,000 people were vaccinated with the second dose in Norway.

On the same day, 4985 reports of suspected side effects after coronary vaccination were received in the Side Effects Register, of which 2479 have been treated.

It shows the Norwegian Medicines Agency’s «Adverse reaction reports for corona vaccines», Which was published today.

– We get a large number of side effect reports, and the vast majority are quite common, says medical director Madsen to Dagbladet.

In line with product information

Most of the side effects that have been reported in Norway so far concern temporary side effects such as headaches, fatigue, feeling unwell, fever, nausea and pain in the body, shows the recent report, which also states that these side effects usually occur on the first or second day after vaccination and last about 2-3 days.

– Most people tolerate these transient side effects well, while others experience significant ailments in the first days after vaccination, says Madsen.

«The messages per. March 9 does not give any new signals about unexpected or serious side effects in Norway. In essence, the suspected side effects observed after vaccination are in line with what is described in the product information “, the report states.

115 deaths

Shortly after the vaccination started among the oldest nursing home residents in Norway, some deaths were reported. This is something the Norwegian Medicines Agency is investigating thoroughly.

– We have our own expert group that reviews deaths that have occurred in nursing homes, Steinar Madsen tells Dagbladet.

The purpose of this is to learn, he explains.

According to the recent side effect report, a total of 115 reports of deaths have been processed in the context of vaccination in elderly people in need of care, most of whom are nursing home residents.

The average age for these is over 87 years.

In several of these messages, reporters have stated that they do not suspect a connection with vaccination, shows the recent report.

– Expected in time

The fact that a person dies in close temporal connection to vaccination does not necessarily mean that there is a causal connection, the report further emphasizes.

The Norwegian Medicines Agency also points out that at this time of year about 50 people die every day in the age group 85 years or older, and about 35 people every day in the age group 75-84 years.

“It is therefore expected that there will be deaths in a timely context with vaccination, without there having to be a causal link with the vaccine,” the report states.

“At the same time, it cannot be ruled out that relatively mild vaccine side effects have contributed to a serious course of their underlying disease for the most frail patients,” it also states.

The reported deaths occurred within a period of up to 3 weeks after vaccination.

Blood clot

The Norwegian Medicines Agency has so far been notified of blood clots in 31 people who have received the coronavine vaccine in Norway. Most of these were elderly with underlying disease.

In the report, the Norwegian Medicines Agency refers to the report of one death in Denmark as a result of a blood clot after vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine. On Thursday, the National Institute of Public Health therefore chose to put all vaccinations with this vaccine on pause while further investigation is ongoing.

The death in Denmark led to the Norwegian Medicines Agency waiting to publish the weekly report until they had extracted and reviewed all cases of blood clots after coronary vaccination reported to the adverse reaction register.

In Norway, one case of a blood clot has been reported in a person who has received the AstraZeneca vaccine.
