Corona Update in the World August 22: 23 Million Infected | Lebanon Records Highest Daily Covid-19 Cases Page all

Brazil

The Brazilian Ministry of Health again reported 30,355 cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, Friday (21/8/2020).

In addition, the government also reported 1,054 new death cases due to Covid-19, bringing the total number of deaths that have occurred to 113,358.

As is well known, Brazil is the second country after the US as the country with the highest number of corona virus cases in the world, as well as the total number of deaths and recoveries.

Paraguay

Pagaguay will implement a social quarantine in the country’s capital city, Asunción, with the increasing number of Covid-19 cases occurring.

“We are proposing social quarantine for the next 2 weeks. Basically, this step is taken to limit movement for two weeks,” said Health Minister Julio Mazzoleni, Friday (21/8/2020).

The social quarantine will be accompanied by restrictions on movement for people at night, limited long-distance transportation during weekends, and a ban on the sale of alcoholic drinks.

Physical activity will only be allowed individually.

“The pandemic will continue, but we must stop the speed of transmission and stabilize the number of cases,” Mazzoleni said.

Lebanon

A curfew has now been imposed on Lebanon and the country has reported another 628 new cases of the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

This figure is the highest record of new cases since the pandemic first occurred there.

This increase in new cases brings the total number of Covid-19 cases that have occurred in Lebanon to 11,580 cases.

In addition, there were 3 new deaths confirmed in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths that occurred to 117.

The curfew itself was only enforced on Friday (21/8/2020), starting at 6 pm to 6 am local time.

These daily maid hours are part of the lockout restriction policy (lockdown).

All activities except pokol and essential activities must be closed during the curfew.
