At the weekend the police had to send home numerous day tourists who wanted to go to the island of Usedom when the weather was nice. But who is still allowed to go where in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania?
The largely icy coast is a wonderful natural spectacle, which was particularly evident on the beaches of the island of Usedom last weekend. But not everyone can and is allowed to see it on site. The state police checked the access roads to the island on Sunday due to excessive crowds and turned around 200 drivers from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and all of Germany, they had to turn around. The background is the current one General decree of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district.
Restrictions depending on the county
The people who have a permanent place of residence in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district are currently the only ones who are allowed to move freely throughout Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Because there is no “exit restriction” for their district, only an “entry ban” for people from all other districts and the whole of Germany. This means that a Rostock can go to Schwerin, Rügen or the Müritz, just not to Greifswald or the island of Usedom. However, people from Greifswald, Anklam or Torgelow are allowed to drive anywhere in the state.
Usedom is currently closed to day tourists. Too many people were already crowding onto the piers on Saturday. more

Scenes like on Usedom should not be repeated
The details are regulated by the current one General decree of the Vorpommern-Greifswald districtwhich came into force a week ago. It was issued on the basis of a state ordinance when the number of infections in the district was so high that the 7-day incidence threshold exceeded the 200 mark. With a view to the now falling incidence numbers, but the still very high number of infections, the district sees itself forced to command unity for this high number of day-trippers, as was the case on Usedom on the weekend – also with police checks. District Administrator Michael Sack (CDU) had requested help from the Ministry of the Interior. As a district spokesman said on NDR 1 Radio MV, the regulatory authorities check very intensively in order to prevent a renewed mass influx like on the weekend. When asked by NDR, the police confirmed that the access roads to the island will continue to be controlled.
There are still strict rules in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district
The incidence value in Vorpommern-Greifswald on Monday was still over 180 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the previous seven days. Therefore, only those who have a valid reason are allowed to enter the district. This also applies to owners of second homes and holiday homes – unless they have been in the district for a long time. Furthermore, the staff in old people’s and nursing homes should be tested for the corona virus every other day. If this confirms a viral infection, daily testing is required. If a corona quarantine is ordered, this must be observed for 14 days. The district wants to check more frequently whether the quarantine is being adhered to.
In the district, the incidence is the second highest in Germany. The ban begins tomorrow evening. More corona news in the ticker. more
