After the new Corona virus has become a threat threatening the whole world about 9 months ago its appearance, all of us are looking forward to knowing what happens every minute, in light of the tremendous development that Covid-19 has brought in our lives.
Within this framework, “Masrawy” provides a daily service that includes displaying everything you want to know about the latest developments in the emerging corona virus, from the emergence of new symptoms or the occurrence of a different mutation, as well as the development of vaccines and drugs, in brief.
Can coconut oil boost immunity and destroy corona virus?
Some doctors in the Philippines have revealed the capabilities of coconut oil, which they claim enhance the body’s immunity against the Corona virus, and can destroy it.
According to the Russian website Argumenti.ru, doctors in the Philippines reached this surprising conclusion during an experiment in which 56 patients with mild disease “Covid-19” participated.
Other sources or studies did not confirm these results, indicating the need for further study and research in this area, according to what was reported by the “Russia Today” website.
Study claims: baby shampoo and mouthwash disrupt Corona’s activity
Researchers at the Pennsylvania State University School of Medicine claimed that some mouthwashes and children’s shampoos have the ability to inactivate “Covid-19”.
Professor Craig Myers, Professor of Microbiology, Immunology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pennsylvania State University School of Medicine, who led the study, said: “While we wait to develop a vaccine, ways are needed to reduce transmission. The products we tested are readily available and are often already part of the study. People’s daily routine. “
In the study, the researchers tested several daily products against a similar alternative to SARS-CoV-2, including a 1% solution of baby shampoo, peroxide cleansers for the mouth and mouthwash.
Each product was allowed to interact with the virus for 30 seconds, one minute and two minutes, in laboratory environments, to study its ability to inactivate SARS-CoV-2-like human coronaviruses, before diluting the solution to prevent further inactivation of the virus.
Myers and colleagues used a test to replicate the virus’s reaction in the nasal and oral cavities with mouthwashes as entry and transmission points for human coronaviruses.
The results showed that the 1% baby shampoo solution, which doctors often use to rinse the sinuses, inactivated more than 99.9% of the virus after two minutes.
It turns out that many mouthwash and gargle products also inactivate more than 99.9% of the virus in just 30 seconds.
Prof Myers said: “People who have tested positive for COVID-19 and have returned to their homes for quarantine may transmit the virus to those they live with. Dentists and other health care workers are constantly at risk of exposure. Therefore, clinical trials are needed to determine what. If these products reduce the amount of patients infected with the Coronavirus or those with high-risk jobs, it may spread while speaking, coughing or sneezing. “
Not all antibodies are created equal
When someone becomes infected with SARS-CoV-2, the number of antibodies able to neutralize the virus increases rapidly. And as soon as a person recovers, their level drops.
And in a study last month, researchers led by University of Montreal professor Andres Finzi and Rene Bazin, of Héma-Québec’s director of innovation, showed that this neutralization capacity decreased after six weeks.
And now, in a new, non-peer-reviewed study published in the journal bioRxiv, researchers have shown that this decrease is related to the disappearance of a family of antibodies called immunoglobulin M, or IgM, in blood plasma.
In other words, IgM antibodies play a major role in neutralizing the virus and are part of the arsenal that the immune system uses to fight infection.
Britain supports the “human challenge” experiments that volunteers intentionally infect Corona
Britain is set to become the first country to intentionally infect individuals with the “Covid-19” virus, to help approve a vaccine capable of bringing life back to normal in the country.
The government announced that healthy volunteers between the ages of 18 and 30 will receive the virus through a swab in the nose, starting in January.
Initially, 90 participants in London will join the “Challenge Experience”, to help determine the minimum amount of viruses needed to cause Covid-19 infection.
This will help create a copy of the virus; To be tracked later across different vaccines, and to determine which works best.
