After the new Corona virus has become a threat to the whole world, about more than a year since its appearance, all of us are looking forward to knowing what happens every minute, in light of the tremendous development that Covid-19 has brought in our lives.
“Masrawy” provides a daily service to display everything you want to know about the developments of the emerging corona virus, first-hand, from the emergence of new symptoms or the occurrence of a different mutation, as well as the development of vaccines and drugs, in brief.
The date of the start of immunity in the body
Dr. Catherine O’Brien, Director of the Department of Immunology and Vaccines at the World Health Organization, confirmed that those who received the first dose of Corona vaccines began to show a good immune response within about two weeks, and it was already found that the second dose of the vaccine enhances the immune response and increases its strength over a period of time Shorter.
This came in an interview conducted by Vesmita Gupta Smith, in episode No. 23 of the televised magazine “Science in Five”, which is broadcast by the World Health Organization on its page on “Twitter”, with the aim of raising awareness and education about everything related to the emerging corona virus and its mutated strains and vaccines against it.
O’Brien added that it is still not known how long immunity from the currently available vaccines will last, noting that the World Health Organization is following people who have received vaccinations to find out whether their immune response lasts over time or not, and for the length of time during which they are protected from disease, Therefore, it is necessary to wait until sufficient time has passed to ascertain how long the vaccines will continue to have an effect, according to the “Al Arabiya” website.
AstraZeneca vaccine provides protection of 76% from the first dose
A recent British study showed that the Coronavirus vaccine manufactured by the “AstraZeneca” company provides 76% protection after 22 days of receiving the first dose of it.
The British study recommended receiving the second dose of the “AstraZeneca” vaccine 3 months after the first, and in another context, France restricted the use of the “AstraZeneca” vaccine to those under 65 years of age.
The German Minister of Health announced, on Saturday, that his government will not give priority to people over the age of 65 to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine against Corona, according to the advice of its experts who doubt its effectiveness in this age group, according to the “Al Arabiya” website.
Global Health warns: The monopoly of Corona vaccines opens the door for its transformation
Tedros Adhanom, Director-General of the World Health Organization, said that nationalism in the distribution of vaccines to prevent Covid-19 harms everyone, and that weak cooperation between countries is a major barrier to achieving the necessary spread of vaccination worldwide to end the pandemic.
“Despite the increasing number of vaccine options, current manufacturing capacity is meeting little of what is needed globally,” he explained in an article in Foreign Policy magazine.
“Not allowing the majority of the world’s population to be vaccinated will not only lead to the continuation of disease and unnecessary deaths, but it will also lead to the emergence of new viral mutations as the spread of Covid-19 continues among the unprotected population,” he added.
