Children who started school during the pandemic show clear deficits in their development. This is the result of a study by the University of Siegen. Professor Daniel Mays examined the basic pre-school skills of the children in four day-care centers in Siegen-Wittgenstein. Once at the beginning of the lockdown in 2020 and then after the reopening. The result: there was a deterioration in language, motor skills and social skills in particular. This is also confirmed by several elementary schools on Radio Siegen’s request. The deficits are to be worked up with funding programmes.
