Shortly before Christmas, numerous shops in Hamburg have to close. Shops with everyday products are excluded. Food, drinks, hygiene articles and other goods can be bought.
Many retail stores as well as hairdressing salons, cosmetic studios, massage practices have to comply with a federal-state resolution from December 16 to January 10 close up to protect against corona.
What can be left open:
Grocery stores, weekly markets, pick-up and delivery services, beverage markets, health food stores and pharmacies should remain open. Customers should also be able to continue using medical supply stores, drug stores, opticians, hearing aid acousticians, petrol stations, car workshops, bicycle workshops, banks and savings banks.
Mayor’s appeal
Hamburg’s First Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) appealed to the people of Hamburg to take the measures seriously and to refrain from shopping on Monday and Tuesday if possible. A “Black Friday situation” should not arise.
Nationwide lockdown from Wednesday
These Hamburg rules are part of a nationwide lockdown on which the federal and state governments agreed on Sunday. In addition, the sale of New Year’s rockets will be banned, and the requirements for private meetings will be tightened. In old people’s and nursing homes, employees and visitors should regularly take rapid tests.
