Between October 14 and October 20, the hospitals in Belgium reported an average of 88 new corona patients admitted each day. That is 32% more than the week before (October 7th – 13th). 997 patients suffering from Covid-19 are currently being treated in hospitals here. 240 of these patients are in intensive care units.
The number of deaths due to Corona continues to rise slightly. In the week from October 11th to 17th, an average of 12 people died every day in our country as a result of Covid-19 disease – an increase of 32% compared to the previous week (October 4-10). According to this, 25,816 corona patients have died of this virus in Belgium so far.
The number of new infections continued to rise in the period from October 11th to 17th. An average of 3,249 people in Belgium tested positive for Corona per day – 53% more than in the previous week (October 4-10). In the corona tests during the same period, the positivity rate was 6.8%. The R value in our country is currently 1.33. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,299,439 people have been diagnosed with Covid-19 in Belgium.
So far, just under 74% of the total population or 86% of adults (18+) in Belgium have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus Covid-19.
