The procedure in the event of a positive test is clearly shown in a flow chart from the Ministry of Culture (linked here).
A positive test result is initially classified as a suspected case within the school. Anyone who receives a positive result must go home immediately and without any detours, even without a separate order from the health department.
For the school sector this means:
A student with a positive test result is allowed no longer take part in the class. The parents Underage students will be informed immediately contacted and asked to pick up the student. The way home should if possible Not by public transport. The pupil waits in a separate room until it is picked up and is accompanied pedagogically.
In the case of a positive result from an antigen self-test, the Obligation to have the result checked with a PCR test (Corona-Quarantäneverordnung). A free PCR test must be performed immediately. Any test option (doctor’s offices, test centers in Hessen: https://www.kvhessen.de/coronatests/ can be reached under the telephone number 116117).
Information chain
The school informs the responsible health department about a positive test result. In contrast to private individuals, there is a reporting obligation for the school management from the Infection Protection Act for organized tests offered in schools.
Quarantine regulation
There is an obligation to isolate yourself for 14 days, at least until you receive a negative result of the PCR test. This means that you have to stay at home all the time (except for the direct route to the test), avoid contact with other people, including in the household, as far as possible and not receive any visitors. The 14-day period begins when the first self-test smear is taken.
If the PCR test carried out after an antigen self-test turns out negative, you are automatically released from the secretion upon receipt of the test result. In this case, the school should be informed before the next school attendance day. If the PCR test confirms the infection, one remains in the secretion.
Recommendation for family members
For their own safety, families of students who tested positive are strongly advised to have their own PCR tests carried out immediately. Parents, siblings and other household members are not subject to quarantine if the result of an antigen self-test is positive, but they should also avoid contact if possible until a PCR test has been carried out.
