In Schleswig-Holstein, daycare and school staff should be able to be tested for the corona virus twice a week free of charge. Daycare centers and primary schools will fill up again next week.
After the state government announced that it would offer two corona tests per week for the staff in daycare centers and schools, the cabinet discussed options for implementation on Tuesday. It is clear that the tests should be offered free of charge and regardless of the occasion, initially until Easter. As Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) announced via Facebook, this should be done at many pharmacies, the contracted doctors and at the test stations.
Also for after-school care centers, all-day schools and day care
The offer should also apply to employees in after-school care, the open all-day school and day care. The country says it will provide around 17 million euros. The strategy should be continuously adapted to current developments.

Infectiologist sees rapid tests as an “additional building block”
For Prof. Dr. Jan Rupp, Director of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases and Microbiology at the UKSH location in Lübeck, the proposed rapid tests are “an additional component” for educators and teachers. As a result, not everything learned should be thrown overboard. If you have symptoms, you should of course continue to stay at home if possible, said Rupp. In addition, according to the infectiologist, one must also pay close attention to whether someone has symptoms in the family. If this is the case, both parents and children should have their family doctor or pediatrician tested at an early stage.
GEW: Full elementary schools and daycare centers irresponsible
From next Monday (February 22nd) primary schools and daycare centers will open again in regular corona operation in Schleswig-Holstein. The Education and Science Union (GEW) called it irresponsible to send the daycare centers to normal operation with full staff. She would have liked a cautious start with halved groups. In a non-representative survey by the GEW, 85 percent of those surveyed who work in daycare centers said they were not adequately protected from corona infection.
“Studies show that children bring infections from home”
Regarding occasional requests from teachers to have all students tested if possible, UKSH infectiologist Rupp said: “Even larger studies have now shown that children mostly bring the infection from home to school and that it is symptomatic there Parents there. ” Parents with symptoms should go to the doctor early and get tested, said Rupp.
And even if the cold plan allows a cold child to go to daycare or school, in the case of symptomatic parents this child must of course stay at home until the test result is available, said Rupp, who appealed to the parents to be responsible.
