The seven Covid-19 test centers in the region will close their doors no later than March 31. The season for flu and corona booster shots is also ending soon.
The need for corona tests has steadily decreased in recent months. National health authorities have therefore decided that all regions should complete the public PCR testing effort by March 31 at the latest.
This emerges from a press release from the Region of Southern Denmark.
By the end of March everything is over
In southern Denmark there are seven Covid-19 test centers in Odense, Svendborg, Vejle, Kolding, Apenrade (Aabenraa), Sonderburg (Sønderborg) and Esbjerg, as well as a test offer at Ærø Hospital.
The center in Kolding will close on February 28th, the one in Odense on March 30th and the rest on March 31st.
Kurt Espersen, Group Director for the region of Southern Denmark, says of the closures: “It is gratifying that Covid-19, three years after the first people were infected with the disease, takes up relatively little space in our society. According to the national health authorities, corona management is now entering a new phase. This means that the public offering of PCR tests will end no later than March 31 and we can now discontinue the regional tests that were introduced in April 2020.”
From March 31, PCR tests can only be carried out by the family doctor or in the hospital.
Limited vaccination offer
The offer of corona booster and flu vaccinations for selected groups will also expire on February 28th.
“The region will continue to offer the first and second Covid-19 vaccinations after February, but it will be on a smaller scale. From March 1st it is possible to continue appointments one day a week at the vaccination centers in Odense, Vejle, Esbjerg and Apenrade at www.vacciner.dk to book. The centers in Kolding and Sønderborg will close their doors on February 28,” says Espersen.
