Clippers President Lawrence Frank confirmed that Paul had entered the league’s corona protocol. According to Frank, George was not feeling well on Thursday, after which he underwent a test for Covid-19.
“It’s another big challenge for our team,” said Frank. “There’s been enough of that all year. We’ve been missing players from the squad and we’ve made up big deficits. This team is very resilient, we have a lot of confidence and talent and a great coach in Ty Lue.”
The Clippers are up against the Pelicans for their final playoff spot in the West. Opponents in the first round would be regular-season champions Phoenix Suns.
Paul George: He’s been missing 51 games
George has missed 51 games this season due to a serious elbow injury. When the 31-year-old was on the floor, he averaged 24.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists. George had 34 points in the 104-109 loss in the seventh-place play-in-game against the Minnesota Timberwolves midweek.
Kawhi Leonard, the other Clippers superstar, has not played a minute this season after suffering a cruciate ligament rupture.
