There are now 22,868 new cases of covid-19 infections in the UK, and three new deaths in the last 24 hours. It reports Sky News.
The number of days is considerably higher than the day before, when 14,876 infections and eleven deaths were reported.
In the UK, 44,454,511 people have now received their first vaccine dose, and 32,583,746 have been fully vaccinated.
– A third wave of infection on the way
Boris Johnson said on Monday that England do not need to be in a lockdown and must return to normalcy as far as possible. The date for the reopening is now set to be July 19.
The date was set after the Prime Minister postponed the reopening by four weeks due to an increasing number of infections with the delta variant.
Restrictions in the UK will be eased on 19 July. This has now been confirmed by the new Minister of Health, Sajid Javid.
