Children aged five and under with a high medical risk can receive a corona vaccination from 16 January. In doing so, the government is adopting the advice of the Health Council.
These are children aged six months to five years who have, for example, Down syndrome, heart or lung problems or an immune disorder.
The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport estimates that around five thousand children are entitled to it. They are invited to the pediatrician. They are tested in one of the GGD facilities specially designated for this purpose. Children receive a smaller dose of the vaccine than adults.
Young children who are healthy are not currently eligible for a vaccine. Even the board of health did not consider it necessary.
Children five years of age and older may already receive a corona vaccine, even if they are not at an increased medical risk. All vaccinated children will receive an adequate dose of BioNTech/Pfizer.
