Authority in China cancel hundreds of flights, close schools and increase mass testing, to control new outbreaks COVID-19 relating to a group of tourists.
As reported by the news agency AFP, Thursday (10/21/2021), Beijing has maintained its zero-COVID approach in a sustainable manner by strictly closing borders and lockdown (lockdowns) are targeted, even as other countries are tentatively trying to relax restrictive policies.
Domestic outbreaks have been largely contained, but along China records new cases for five days in a row – mostly in northern and northwestern regions – authorities step up control corona virus.
The latest outbreak was linked to an elderly couple who were part of a group of several tourists. They started their journey in Shanghai before flying to Xi’an, Gansu province and Inner Mongolia.
Since then dozens of cases have been linked to their travels, with close contacts in at least five provinces and territories, including the capital Beijing.
Remaining silent, the local government has launched mass testing and closed public places such as tourist sites, schools and entertainment venues in the affected areas, and also imposed restrictions on certain housing complexes.
Some areas including Lanzhou, which has a population of four million people in northwestern China, are barred from unnecessary travel.
