Corona spewer sentenced to 2 years in prison for violence against NM … (Hasselt)

Hasselt –

The Hasselt criminal court has sentenced a 32-year-old corona spewer from Hasselt to 2 years of effective imprisonment and a fine of 1,600 euros for aggression against staff of the NMBS and the police.

On July 7, the man in Hasselt went crazy. A substation manager and another SNCB staff member were hit hard. He also insulted two officers from the Limburg Region Capital local police and he behaved rebelliously towards the two police officers.

The station master had seen the defendant harassing other people. The thirty-something went up to the chief, hit him on the back of the head, and stamped him three times. A punch landed in the stomach. The station master called in the help of a colleague, but the aggressive man ran away, after which the chase was started.

Spit

He walked through a hedge into an apartment garden. Then he threatened to spit at the station master. He effectively spat at the other NMBS employee. When the police arrived on the scene, he wanted to attack them with two bamboo sticks.

After the defendant was placed on the police line, he shouted that he had corona. He then spat at one of the officers. According to the court, his saliva gave the unmistakable impression of being dangerous given the global pandemic. During a search, the police found a butterfly knife.

According to the judge, the facts showed his aggressive attitude and his lack of respect for public authorities. The man already has a loaded criminal record with 13 criminal convictions for theft, drugs, forgery and hacking.
