The city of Cologne is no longer extending its general decree with the special corona rules. Thus, as of Tuesday, alcohol consumption and lingering bans as well as the mask requirement in public areas will be lifted.

According to the crisis team, a prerequisite for the cancellation was a consistently low incidence. Unlike most cities in North Rhine-Westphalia, Cologne still adhered to the mask requirement in public areas. This was already overridden by the country’s Corona Protection Ordinance last Monday. Alcohol consumption and residence bans were not provided for in the state ordinance.
The ban on the consumption of alcohol and the ban on the sale of alcohol at Aachener Weiher, around Brusselser Platz, Schaafenstrasse and the area around Zülpicher Platz are no longer applicable.
