Corona rules of FC Bayern “very tightened”

After numerous corona cases in its professional squad, FC Bayern Munich has taken extensive additional protective measures.

“We have tightened the measures a lot,” said sports director Hasan Salihamidzic before the Champions League game at Lazio Rome on the “Sky” microphone. “We want to try that no further infections are brought into the team from outside,” the Bosnian continued.

No other team from the Bundesliga had been hit as hard by the corona pandemic in recent weeks as FC Bayern. With Javi Martínez, Leon Goretzka, Thomas Müller and, most recently, Benjamin Pavard, four of the record champions’ players tested positive and had to go into domestic isolation.

According to “Bild”, the Munich team is threatened with group quarantine for the entire team in the next positive test – a measure that recently also hit handball Champions League winners THW Kiel.

FC Bayern: Double test strategy, no purchases allowed

As Salihamidzic confirmed, the club is now relying on an “intensive test protocol”, with quick tests before the training units and more precise PCR tests in the run-up to the games.

In addition, according to “Bild”, the Bayern professionals are said to have been forbidden by the club’s management to leave their own house to go shopping – not even with an FFP2 mask, which according to scientific findings provides good protection against the virus.

Other private errands are also said to have been largely banned for two weeks. According to the report, the players should only commute between their private apartment and the training area on Säbener Straße or to other official club appointments. Events such as sponsor meetings and interviews were, however, canceled by the club as a precaution.

At FC Bayern, the tightly knit schedule continues unchanged. Six trend-setting games in the Bundesliga and the Champions League are on the agenda before the international break in just under four weeks.
