To relieve hospitals, people have to restrict their contacts even more. This also applies to schoolchildren.

When the Christmas holidays are over on Monday, the Hessian schools will reopen for grades 1 to 6, but parents should, if possible, leave their children at home. The minister of education Alexander Lorz (CDU) assured him that he will then receive distance lessons, the quality of which does not differ from what the others learn in school. The daycare centers also remain open to those parents who cannot find any alternative care.

On Wednesday, the Hessian Corona cabinet cast the resolutions of the Prime Minister from the previous day into regulations. They apply from Monday. The fact remains: The lockdown, which has been in force since mid-December, will be extended until January 31 and tightened again. A household may meet a maximum of one person from another household. This applies to meetings in public. Hesse continues to stay out of activities in private rooms and leaves it to the “urgent request and recommendation”, said Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (CDU). The whole point of it is to reduce contacts in order to push the number of new infections down. “That sure is bitter sometimes,” he said. But even now some hospitals have to turn away intensive care patients. The Offenbach Clinic, for example, is moving sick people to Fulda or Würzburg, added Economics Minister Tarek Al-Wazir (Greens). “We know what we can expect from retailers, restaurateurs and other industries.” Hessen tries to ensure that the federal government ensures that the aid promised in Hessen can be paid out as quickly as possible. In view of the continued high number of infections, there are no alternatives: “We have to make another effort”. The new rules:

Private meetings
One household and one additional person are allowed. Exceptions: the accompaniment and care of minors or people in need of support. Up to three households can join forces for childcare.

Restriction of movement
With a seven-day incidence of more than 200, the range of motion is restricted to 15 kilometers from the apartment, the property, the accommodation. Exceptions are “valid reasons” such as work or important errands. It is about day trips, such as in the snow, or shopping trips, said Bouffier. This does not affect curfews from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. with an incidence of 200 or more.

schools
Pupils should stay away from classroom lessons up to grade 6 if possible. You will receive the same teaching material as the others. Education Minister Lorz: “I appeal to all parents, however, to keep their children at home whenever possible in order to reduce contact.” Class work is usually canceled. “If the number of infections increases, we aim to return to classroom instruction for grades 1 to 6,” said Lorz.

Day care centers
Those who look after children at home can claim up to ten additional days of child sickness benefit per parent.

Retirement and nursing homes
Relatives are only allowed to come into the facilities after tests. The federal and state governments are starting an initiative to recruit volunteers to provide support on site.

Economic aid
The November aid should take place quickly by January 10th. The bridging aid from the federal government will flow in the first quarter.

Travel returner
The quarantine requirement when entering from a risk area is extended to include the requirement to carry out tests. Upon entry, the test obligation applies within 48 hours before arrival or directly after entry.
