Free rapid tests for all employees, ideally twice a week – this is what the federal and state governments demand from companies. What about in Hamburg? An overview.
The test offers are not yet mandatory, but they are now also slowly being expanded in the Hanseatic city. For example at the copper group Aurubis: There a new Corona test bus has been rolling across the huge factory premises since Tuesday and comes almost directly to the workplace. Of the around 1,500 employees who are not in the home office, around 200 took advantage of the offer on the first day.
And things are also happening in many other companies: At the forklift manufacturer Jungheinrich, for example, you can have yourself tested twice a week, the shipping specialist Otto also wants to make this possible, and Beiersdorf is now introducing self-tests.

There is a problem with the practical questions
Around half of the companies in Germany are currently offering tests or at least planning to do so – and according to the Chamber of Commerce, the situation is similar in Hamburg. If there is a problem, it is mainly about practical questions: How is a test road set up? How do you even get the tests?
The smaller the company, the fewer the options – this also applies to Hamburg’s craft businesses. According to the Chamber of Crafts, many test offers are also being prepared there.
