RKI reports 78,428 new infections, incidence rises to 1259.2
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports 78,428 new infections within 24 hours. That’s 16,079 more cases than Monday a week ago, when 62,349 positive tests were reported. Overall, the number of infections in Germany is more than 15.86 million. The nationwide seven-day incidence rises to 1259.2 from 1231.1 the previous day. 24 people died in connection with the virus. This increases the number of reported deaths to 124,126.

China reports the highest increase in local infections since the pandemic began
According to official data, mainland China has reported 214 infections, the highest number of locally transmitted symptomatic corona cases within 24 hours since the pandemic began in March 2020.
