Corona news from 03 December 2022
RKI registers 27,841 new corona infections – incidence at 207.0
Saturday 03 December, 05:13: The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) estimated the national incidence over seven days on Saturday morning at 207.0. This is evident from the numbers reflecting the RKI dashboard status at 5am. The day before, the value of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week was 205 (previous week: 189.5; previous month: 289.6). However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections.
Experts have long assumed there will be a large number of unrecorded cases from the RKI, mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. Furthermore, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of the individual daily values.
German health authorities recently reported 27,841 new corona infections (previous week: 24,687) and 89 deaths (previous week: 107) to the RKI in one day. Here, too, data comparisons are only possible to a limited extent due to test behavior, late entries or transmission problems. In general, the number of new infections and deaths recorded varies significantly from weekday to weekday, as many federal states do not report them to the RKI, especially on weekends, and report their cases later in the week.
The RKI has counted 36,557,861 SARS-CoV-2 infections since the start of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections go undetected.
RKI records 30,420 new corona infections – incidence at 205.0
Friday 02 December 2022 at 08:31: The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the nationwide seven-day incidence on Friday morning as 205.0. This is evident from the numbers reflecting the RKI dashboard status at 5am. The day before, the value of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week was 201.9 (previous week: 190.8; previous month: 279.1).
German health authorities recently reported 30,420 new corona infections (previous week: 30,016) and 166 deaths (previous week: 274) to the RKI in one day. Here, too, data comparisons are only possible to a limited extent due to test behavior, late entries or transmission problems. In general, the number of new infections and deaths recorded varies significantly from weekday to weekday, as many federal states do not report them to the RKI, especially on weekends, and report their cases later in the week.
The RKI has counted 36,530,020 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the start of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections go undetected.
The downward trend in the incidence of corona is faltering
19:23: According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the downward trend in reported corona cases in Germany has initially stopped. Nationwide, the seven-day incidence remained the same last week as it did in the previous week, according to the RKI weekly report on the development of the corona pandemic on Thursday evening. In the previous week, the incidence of corona had decreased by 17% over the same period.
However, the incidences only give an incomplete picture of the infection situation. Experts have long assumed that there will be a large number of cases not registered by the RKI. Most of the report’s findings are from last week. The number of inpatient treatments for people with severe acute respiratory infection and COVID-19 has also not decreased further.
In addition to Corona, other diseases currently burden the healthcare system. “Infection pressure is generally high in autumn in all age groups, as the spread of acute respiratory infections is more difficult to prevent due to more frequent and longer stays indoors,” writes the RKI.
According to data from the online survey “GrippeWeb”, the number of acute respiratory diseases (AER) in Germany has increased again compared to the previous week. According to the RKI, it was around 8.2 million last week, well above the range in previous years. Reasons for going to the doctor due to an acute respiratory infection are therefore influenza viruses, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and, to a lesser extent, the corona virus.
Vaccination rates for children have increased slightly despite the pandemic
18:38: Vaccination rates for children and adolescents in Germany increased slightly in 2020 and 2021 despite the corona pandemic. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Thursday that there were no feared negative effects of the pandemic.
In the assessment, the RKI referred to data from school entrance exams and accounting data
Associations of doctors of compulsory health insurance. All standard vaccinations for children and adolescents recommended by the Standing Vaccination Committee (Stiko), including diphtheria, tetanus, rotavirus, measles, rubella, and pneumococci, were considered.
According to the RKI, the measles immunity test for kindergartens and schoolchildren, which has been mandatory since 2020, has had a positive effect on the vaccination rate. “Measles vaccination rates increased in 2020 and 2021, especially among young children,” the authority writes. “The reason for this may be the entry into force of the Measles Protection Act in March 2020.”
Overall, vaccination rates for most of the vaccinations recommended for more than 20 years are “at a good level by the time of school entrance exams,” according to the RKI. However, current analyzes also show that, as in previous years, there are still vaccination deficits, the RKI announced. “Children in Germany are often vaccinated too late or not fully.” Some children have not received any vaccinations. Targets set nationally or internationally would not be achieved with any vaccination.
RKI extension reports 36,115 new corona infections – incidence as of 201.9
Thursday 01 December 2022, 06:35: The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the seven-day national incidence Thursday morning as 201.9. This is evident from the numbers reflecting the RKI dashboard status at 5am. The day before, the value of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week was 196.7 (previous week: 186.9; previous month: 351.7). However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have long assumed there will be a large number of unrecorded cases from the RKI, mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. Furthermore, late registrations and transmission problems can lead to distortions of the individual daily values.
German health authorities recently reported 36,115 new corona infections (previous week: 38,090) and 152 deaths (previous week: 163) to the RKI in one day. Here, too, data comparisons are only possible to a limited extent due to test behavior, late entries and transmission problems. In general, the number of new infections and deaths recorded varies significantly from weekday to weekday, as many federal states do not report them to the RKI, especially on weekends, and report their cases later in the week.
The RKI has counted 36,499,600 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the start of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections go undetected.
