Nationwide corona incidence increased to 1231.1
The nationwide seven-day incidence of new corona infections has risen again. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the value was 1231.1. The day before it was 1220.8, on Sunday last week it was 1240.3. As the RKI further reported, citing data from the health authorities, the number of new infections reported within 24 hours was 116,889. The day before, 192,210 new infections had been reported.
The total number of registered cases of infection in Germany since the beginning of the corona pandemic has increased to 15,790,989. According to the RKI, 51 further deaths related to the corona virus were registered within 24 hours. The total number of corona deaths recorded in Germany rose to 124,102.

FDP insists on reducing corona measures in spring
In the debate about the Corona course in spring, the FDP insists on an extensive end to everyday restrictions. “When the danger situation eases, measures must also be scaled back,” said Federal Minister of Justice Marco Buschmann to the newspapers of the Funke media group. “You can’t just restrict millions of basic rights preventively in the long run.” Any solution must take this into account.
According to a relaxation plan decided by the federal and state governments, “all more profound” restrictions are to be lifted on March 20, if the situation in the clinics allows it. The nationwide legal basis for such measures expires on March 19. A new basis for a basic protection that is still necessary in spring is currently being discussed.
Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach had emphasized in the Funke newspapers that the federal states must have the opportunity to react early to the coming waves. This included mask requirements and contact restrictions, upper limits for private meetings and events as well as access rules for restaurants, for example, should remain possible. The instruments should be able to be used if necessary, if state parliaments determine the need.
