The German government has removed the Mediterranean islands of Crete and Corsica from the list of high-risk areas. For German vacationers, there are no quarantine and test obligations when they return.
The federal government is removing the popular holiday islands of Crete and Corsica and the southern French region of Occitania from the list of corona high-risk areas from Sunday. In France, this classification then only applies to the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region and some overseas territories, as announced by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).
Greece – where in addition to Crete also the southern Aegean with Kos and Rhodes loses this classification – is now completely removed from the list. This also applies to seven other countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Ecuador, Peru, Oman and Namibia are considered “risk-free” from Sunday.
Not only the number of infections is crucial
However, several regions have also been newly classified as high-risk areas: Norway with the provinces of Oslo and Viken as well as Bosnia-Herzegovina, Nicaragua and Grenada. Countries and regions with a particularly high risk of infection are assigned to this category. Returnees who are not fully vaccinated or have recovered must be quarantined for ten days. But you can get rid of it after five days with a negative test.
For the classification – unlike in the past – not only the infection numbers are decisive. Other criteria are the speed at which the virus is spreading, the burden on the health system or a lack of data on the corona situation.
Crete and Corsica will no longer be corona high-risk areas from Sunday
