The Gotthard Bar has shaped the cityscape of Winterthur for years. The bar became a meeting place for party-goers but also for early risers. Due to the Corona crisis, the bar has now to close for good.
Such traditional bars have an important meaning for the city dwellers. “The bars and clubs are not only important for the cityscape, but also for city life,” explains Peter Fahrtisen, Professor of Social Work at the ZHAW. Closing the bar could make one or the other feel at home. “In general, bars and meeting places are very decisive factors for the identity of a city,” he added.
