There have been several corona outbreaks in children’s facilities in the Vogtland region of Treuen. In a press release, the city speaks of a “dynamic infection process” since last Friday. Within a week, 13 educators and technical staff tested positive for the virus. Nine other contacts were placed in quarantine. It is still unclear whether the infection process takes place so dynamically due to a corona mutation.

Kita Schreiersgrün particularly affected
The day care center in Schreiersgrün is particularly affected. It was completely closed on Monday. Since the beginning of the week, a similar infection has been developing in the “Villa Kunterbunt” daycare center in Treuen, said Mayor Andrea Jedzig. “The fact is that we now have three educators in the facility as well as technical staff and look after a few children,” she said. The parents were informed of the situation and asked to come up with care solutions in the event that the facility was closed. So far, five teachers and technical staff of the “Villa Kunterbunt” have tested positive. Some findings are still pending.

Daycare staff and children tested positive
Individual corona cases were also found in other children’s facilities. “It wasn’t just educators who tested positive, this time also children,” said Jedzig. “And I have to say, it’s very aggressive, we’ve never had it before, that within three four days it spread so much that employees and children are sick.” The mayor cannot explain the spread of the infection. There is a strict separation in the day-care centers and the educators also do not meet. The city is in constant contact with the health department of the Vogtland district and assesses the situation several times a day.
