Corona outbreak in Belmer St. Marien home for the elderly

Belm. There was an outbreak of the British variant B 1.1.7 in the St. Marien nursing home in Belm. of the coronavirus. The mutation was detected in 14 residents, although all residents had already been vaccinated against Corona for the second time on January 25. The entire home, all employees and their families have been quarantined.

A positive result was noticed during the daily quick tests of the employees on February 2nd. The old people’s home responded immediately and tested all residents and employees. When eight residents received positive results, the subsequent complete testing and typing of residents revealed the 14 cases of the British variant at the end of last week.

Since five of the employees live in neighboring districts, the Osnabrück district has informed the local health authorities about the family quarantines. For the employees who tested negative, the commuting quarantine means that they are only allowed to leave their homes for the way to work. The outpatient care service, which is also housed in the old people’s home, is structurally completely separated from the inpatient care area, but all employees are also tested for Corona as a precaution.
