The Corona situation at Sturm Graz deteriorated significantly on Saturday. Now the Bundesliga duel against Altach threatens to be canceled.
After Jusuf Gazibegovic initially tested positive for the corona virus, Kelvin Yeboah’s smear before the Europa League game against Real Sociedad was also positive. The Italian junior team player therefore had to stay in hotel quarantine in San Sebastian, Spain, and could not return to Austria.
Complete testing of the team on Friday made it easy to relax, but antigen tests on players and coaches showed a different picture on Saturday.
Bundesliga duel before cancellation
“During the additional antigen tests on Saturday, several players and supervisors of the SK Sturm tested positive for Covid-19,” said the club, but without giving an exact number.
In any case, there is a big question mark behind the Bundesliga duel of the 14th round in Altach. “Whether the game against Altach on Sunday can take place as planned will be clarified with the Bundesliga.”
The Graz team had initially planned to travel to Altach with two charter planes to the game, and to let the team travel on a separate plane. Now the Styrians will probably not even arrive.
