Corona Outbreak Draws Ire from District Councils in Aichach’s Newspaper

Aichach-Friedberg – The Corona outbreak at the Friedberg hospital at the end of 2020, as a result of which 15 people died, has been processed and completed from the point of view of the Aichach-Friedberg district office. After the public prosecutor’s office had dropped its investigations in January, the authorities, after examining all the documents, concluded that the clinics on the Paar could not be accused of anything. There were violations in the room. Here, too, the district office came to the conclusion that no proceedings should be initiated.

The long-awaited and sealed final report from the health department, then headed by Dr. Kirsten Hper, was published yesterday at the works committee meeting, together with the results of the investigation by the public prosecutor.
Boris Peter, head of the department for public safety and consumer protection, combed through the files together with a doctor from the public health department and another clerk. In summary, he stated that no reproachable behavior on the part of those involved had been established. Peter presented these statements to the committee, going into individual points such as nosocomial infections (i.e. infections within the clinic), the need for hygiene specialists, the series of tests at the hospital after the outbreak had been established as such, and the labeling of disinfectants.
These results were made available to the committee members in a comparison. Apparently, this kind of processing was enough for the group, because after Peter’s report and the introductory words of lawyer Bettina Litpher, who had kept in touch with the public prosecutor’s office during the investigation, none of those present had a question.
Christina Haubrich, health policy spokeswoman for the Greens in the state parliament, followed the session as a visitor and was critical of this type of processing. “So there are no consequences, no responsibility,” said the woman from Meringen, adding: “Does anyone feel responsible for what happened here? I don’t get the impression.” 15 people died. It is absolutely understandable that relatives cannot simply come to terms with this situation. She is far from blaming anyone, especially not the nursing staff, but leaving people “out in the rain and letting so much time pass” does not give a good picture.
However, the trained nurse was not surprised. “I expected it that way,” Haubrich clarified.
