Corona outbreak at Elsloo nursing home | 1Limburg

A corona outbreak has occurred among residents and staff at the Aelserhof nursing home in Elsloo. Twelve residents, six employees and one volunteer have tested positive.

In addition, one resident who had tested positive has died, according to a spokesman for the Vivantes care institution.

Prevent outbreak
The seniors who have the virus have been placed in isolation. The other residents must be quarantined preventively. “Employees with complaints stay at home,” said the spokesperson. “It has limited itself to one department. We hope that – in combination with the other hygiene measures – we can prevent further outbreaks.”

Source
The source of the source of infection is not yet certain. According to the spokesman, there are three scenarios. “The source will be an employee, volunteer or visitor. We cannot be certain that one person is an absolute source,” he says. “We currently have a clear picture of who tested positive or not.”

Vaccinations
As with other healthcare institutions in the country, not everyone has been vaccinated at Vivantes, the spokesman said. “Not a single resident within Vivantes has had that second injection. That also applies to most employees. So nobody is protected yet,” he says.

Visit
Despite the infections, visits are still possible. “Provided that these are two people from the same household and no one in that household has complaints or has been in contact with anyone with complaints,” said the spokesperson.
