Corona: Opening for priority group 2 – tens of thousands get vaccination appointments | NDR.de – News – Schleswig-Holstein

Status: March 9th, 2021 8:12 pm

Schleswig-Holsteiners have had significantly more appointments for vaccination against the coronavirus since Tuesday. The online appointment allocation stopped at times.

Tens of thousands more people in Schleswig-Holstein have received appointments for vaccinations against the coronavirus. The state had opened the online appointment system for priority group 2 on Tuesday afternoon on the homepage www.impfen-sh.de. For example, people between the ages of 70 and 79, employees in daycare centers and primary schools, and the chronically ill could register for vaccinations with the Astrazeneca vaccine. According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, around 60,000 people eligible for vaccination had booked around 120,000 appointments (first and second vaccination) within the first hour.

NDR users report technical problems

According to the ministry, a queuing system set up due to the large number of accesses could be dissolved again during this time. The system ran smoothly and appointments were still available at 6 p.m., according to a ministry spokesman. However, users of the NDR SH app also reported isolated technical problems. Several attempts were often necessary to make an appointment.

Initially 200,000 appointments for 860,000 beneficiaries

According to the Ministry of Health, 860,000 eligible persons belong to priority group 2 in Schleswig-Holstein. In March and April, around 200,000 appointments were available for vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine, a spokesman said on Monday.

For many people, patience is still necessary. “If the country gets more vaccine, the number of first vaccination appointments will be increased further,” said a statement from the Ministry of Health on Monday.

As already announced, Schleswig-Holstein is implementing a recommendation from the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko). Stiko initially only recommended AstraZeneca’s vaccine for people under 65 years of age. Last week, the commission announced that it would also recommend the vaccine for people over 65, citing new study data.

Only those over 80 have a choice between vaccines

The over 80-year-olds have so far been the only group to have the choice between vaccines from Biontech, Moderna and AstraZeneca when making appointments. They belong to priority group 1 and were able to register for a vaccination appointment online again on Tuesday – as an additional offer in addition to the telephone hotline reserved for them anyway.

Those over 80 years of age still have the option of registering by phone after receiving a personal cover letter with a personal pin. The Ministry said that the corresponding letters would continue to be sent in stages. The letter is not required for the alternative online registration.
