Lübeck. Actually, everything was already set up at Schauenburger Platz for the first Oberliga matchday of the 2024/2025 season. According to the schedule, the host OSV and Heider SV were supposed to face each other on Saturday from 4 p.m., but that won’t happen. The reason? It’s been a long time since you’ve heard of it: After what feels like a long time, there is a corona-related cancellation.

Oldenburger SV wants to be a role model
At least six Dithmarscher players have been infected with COVID-19 and have tested positive. The Oldenburgers regret without any ifs and buts that the opening game did not take place, but show full understanding and take the cancellation in good spirit. “We have decided to comply with the request of Heider SV and postpone the game,” explains team manager Lars Brunner“Fairness and respectful interaction are core values that are our top priority. We expect that we would be treated just as well in a similar situation. Of course, it is very disappointing for our team, as they have prepared intensively for the start of the season and were looking forward to it. But especially at the level of the top league, we should be a role model in how we treat each other fairly.”
Oldenburger SV is actively committed to fair play in sport and sees the postponement of the game as a natural gesture of sporting fairness. A new date for the game will be announced shortly. The East Holsteiners wish the affected players a speedy recovery and look forward to an exciting game at a later date.

First game now against VfB Lübeck II
There is definitely no alternative program for the OSV players, as coach Pascal Diouri confirmed: “We want to be honest about the matter and everything is OK for us. That can happen and unfortunately the issue still haunts us. We have a free weekend, but we train on Monday because VfB Lübeck II is waiting for us on Wednesday. A few people are helping out with the second men’s team so that they can get match practice.” SG Oldenburg/Göhl, which has been promoted to the Verbandsliga, will make its debut on Saturday (2 p.m.) at SVE Comet Kiel.
