The RKI reports a further increase in the number of cases in the region around Offenbach, Hanau and Darmstadt. On Tuesday (August 31, 2021) the 7-day incidence is almost everywhere over 80.
Offenbach / Hanau / Darmstadt – Infections in the region around Offenbach, Darmstadt and Hanau have been very dynamic since the beginning of the corona pandemic. The city of Offenbach is again and again the front runner in the corona pandemic in terms of 7-day incidence in Hesse. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the city on the Main has recorded very high incidences in a nationwide comparison. (We update the current case numbers every day in a table at the end of the text.)
The 7-day incidence in Offenbach has been rising steadily since October 2020 – according to information from the RKI, it reached its maximum value of 377 on November 22, 2020. The city of Offenbach reacted with severe measures, such as exit restrictions, and reduced the incidence over the period of January down again by February 2021. At the beginning of March, however, there was a clear upward trend – the so-called “third wave” had begun.
Offenbach reached the new peak on April 22, 2021 with an incidence of 326.2. Since the nationwide vaccination campaign, the numbers initially fell in May and June 2021, which lifted numerous corona restrictions in Offenbach. While the incidence values in all of Hesse reached their lowest level in a year in June 2021, they have also been rising continuously in Offenbach, Darmstadt and Hanau since then. On Saturday (08/28/2021) the 7-day incidence in Offenbach exceeded the critical value of 100 for the first time Hessian escalation concept The city of Offenbach therefore announced tightened corona measures again. The new rules come into force on Wednesday (September 1st, 2021).
Corona incidence in Darmstadt, Hanau and the region: Offenbach sad front runner
The corona situation in the Offenbach district was similarly dynamic. The highest incidence was found here on November 20, 2020 with a value of 267, as reported by the RKI. The Main-Kinzig-Kreis with its largest city Hanau experienced the peak of the 7-day incidence on December 20, 2020 with an incidence of 311.
The city of Darmstadt reached the maximum value of the 7-day incidence on November 2, 2020 with 183. The district of Darmstadt-Dieburg followed later, the RKI recorded the maximum value of the 7-day incidence on December 20, 2020 with 207.
The outbreak of the previously untitled Covid-19 pandemic was confirmed on December 31, 2019 after the outbreak of a novel pneumonia in Wuhan, China. In January 2020, the novel disease, called Covid-19 by the WHO, developed into an epidemic in China. The WHO responded on March 11, 2020, declaring the epidemic a global pandemic.
